| Wedding nightmares |
Beware, however, of bridal magazines which advise you to present the photographer with long lists of 'must have' shots . . . . such articles are written by well meaning journalists who don't have to face the anger of 100 bored guests when the photoshoot runs into a 3 hour nightmare - the photographer simply following a list of 'must have' pictures, whilst the guests mingle in groups, studiously avoiding involvement in the pictures. The longer the shoot goes on - the more difficult it becomes to get the attention of guests. If the photography takes ages, the natural reaction for the guests is to make themselves scarce, this means that the shoot takes even longer and the problem worsens by the minute.. . everyone gets a headache and no one enjoys the day. We can work from such a list if you like - but long lists are almost guaranteed to stifle creativity, extend the photo session to marathon proportions and to drive you and your guests to distraction. Discuss this with me beforehand, we will be happy to let you know what has worked in the past - and importantly - what hasn't! you will then avoid pitfalls and problems and irate guests who wonder when the flipping photography is going to be finished'. I work really quickly - group shots being out of the way in a trice, but we need to discuss this in advance, so that we can do this in a way that doesn't inconvenience either you or your guests. Your family might expect certain pictures - perhaps even taken in a certain way - whether you follow their wishes (remember - it's your wedding album !) or not, is entirely up to you. We can help out with some general advice on 'the sensible pictures' - but ultimately - what we produce is entirely up to you - you're the boss. if you want things to be really relaxed . . . it's your day. |
